Use the app

Getting started

Add Robinhood Chain to an EVM wallet, bring ETH for gas, connect to the app, and follow a transaction from approval to confirmation.

The app lives at /app. It reads pools, positions and quotes from Robinhood Chain through Uniswap v4's contracts, and your wallet signs every change. Socket never holds your keys and never sends a transaction you haven't signed.

What you need#

  • An EVM wallet that can add Robinhood Chain, in the browser or on mobile, such as MetaMask or Rabby.
  • ETH on Robinhood Chain. Every transaction pays its gas in ETH.
  • The tokens you want to trade or deposit.

Add Robinhood Chain#

Robinhood Chain is an Ethereum layer 2 built on Arbitrum technology. When you connect, the app asks your wallet to add it and switch to it. To add it by hand, use these settings:

SettingValue
Network nameRobinhood Chain
Chain ID4663
RPC URLhttps://rpc.mainnet.chain.robinhood.com
Currency symbolETH
Block explorerhttps://robinhoodchain.blockscout.com

Fund the wallet#

Bridge ETH to Robinhood Chain for gas, and bridge in the tokens you want to use. USDC bridged in arrives as USDG (Paxos Global Dollar), the dollar stablecoin issued natively on Robinhood Chain.

Connect a wallet#

  1. Open the wallet menu

Press Connect wallet in the top right of the app and choose your wallet.

  2. Approve the connection

Your wallet asks whether to share your address with the site. Socket reads nothing else.

  3. Switch to Robinhood Chain

If the wallet is on another network, the app asks it to switch to chain 4663, or to add Robinhood Chain first. Approve the request in your wallet.

  4. Check your balances

The wallet menu shows your address and the ETH and token balances the app can see. Use Disconnect there to switch wallets.

How a transaction runs#

Every change in the app is one transaction on Robinhood Chain, made through Uniswap v4's contracts and, for pools on Socket's hooks, those hooks.

  1. Approve the token

The first time you use an ERC-20 token, your wallet asks you to approve Permit2 to move it. This is a transaction, once per token. Native ETH needs no approval.

  2. Sign the permit

For a swap or a deposit, your wallet asks you to sign a Permit2 message that lets the Universal Router or PositionManager take the tokens this action needs. A signature is not a transaction and costs no gas.

  3. Send

Your wallet shows the transaction and its gas in ETH. Rejecting it ends the attempt, and nothing is sent.

  4. Confirmed

The transaction is in a block. The app links it on the explorer and refreshes your balances, pools and positions.

:::details Why Permit2? Permit2 is Uniswap's approval contract, at 0x000000000022D473030F116dDEE9F6B43aC78BA3 on Robinhood Chain. You approve it once per token. After that, each action gets its own signed allowance for the tokens it needs, instead of a separate approval transaction for every contract. The Universal Router and PositionManager both take tokens through it. :::
